Snakes are carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes. They have a rich symbolic history where they represent fertility, rebirth and/or the creative life force. Throughout their lives, as they grow they shed their skin as they take on their new form. Hence the symbols of rebirth, transformation, and healing. Snakes are serpents and serpents are snakes there is no difference between the two. See also Ouroboros.
